The Skylark Statue captures a songbird mid-downstroke, both wings sweeping beneath its body as its head tips slightly toward the ground. Cast in metal and finished throughout in gold leaf, the figure shows each feather fanning across the wings in fine, articulated relief.
Supported only by the tips of its two wings, the bird seems to hover above a rectangular base of polished white Carrara marble. A felted bottom protects the surface below. Set on a mantel in the living room, a bookshelf in the study, or a console in the entry, the Skylark Statue holds a fleeting moment of flight in place.
