The Coney Statue takes up the ancient three hares motif: three hares chase one another within a single hand-cast ring, sharing just three ears between them, so that each appears to have two. The dark bronze finish is highlighted across the raised forms, and the metal retains a rough, irregular texture that gives it the weight and character of a found object. A block of polished Carrara marble provides a clean counterpoint to the metal above, and a felted bottom protects the surface below. Compact enough for a bookshelf, console, or desk, the Coney Statue introduces a playful narrative element within the restraint of its circular form.
