Ancient Egyptians revered the scarab beetle for its seemingly magical strength and mysterious life cycle. Khepri, an Egyptian god of the early morning with the head of a scarab, was believed to push the sun into the sky at the dawn of each day and down to the underworld at dusk, a myth likely inspired by observing scarab beetles pushing balls of dung across the sand.

This stone scarab is of Black Onyx. The word onyx comes from the Greek όνυχας, meaning fingernail, as the stone was said to come from the fingernails of Venus. Throughout history, Onyx has been known for its properties of defense, protection, and grounding. It also serves as a reminder of the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, making it a good match for the symbolism of the Scarab.
