Although we didn't get a lot of time in Mashiko, we found so many beautiful pieces in some of our favourite small antique stores and shops along the way. This mochi hammer, otherwise known as a kine, is a large wooden mallet whose original purpose was to pound steamed rice into a chewy rice cake. Suffice it to say this is a pretty unique and cool piece; use it as a doorstop or just a decorative piece in your home.
