Expanded PVC is a lightweight, semi-rigid plastic that's great for puppet mouthplates and other structural supports.

Why is it great for puppet-building? Expanded PVC is:

Easy to cut, requiring just a hobby knife or pair of scissors (for thin sheets); no power tools necessary
Easy to shape due to it's thermoplastic properties
Waterproof (sweatproof)
