The PR MAX Deadlift Bar was designed specifically for deadlifting. The knurling is sharp AND coated with a "grip you back", black manganese phosphate coating which provides about the best grip possible.  As dedicated deadlift bars go, the PR MAX Deadlift Bar is a bit on the stiffer side due to the higher tensile strength steel. It does however have the standard 27mm thick shaft which provides far more "flex" than a standard power bar.
