The Jobe Topaz 3/4" Short Tail is a compact stock tank and water trough float valve that keeps livestock troughs, water tanks and cisterns full automatically. Its short tail gives a low-profile connection.
Like every Topaz, it uses a pilot-operated diaphragm: the float works a small pilot valve, which opens the main valve for high flow and then closes gradually to help reduce water hammer. Set the water level by hand with no tools, and lock it off whenever you need to.
Jobe calls the Topaz a good choice wherever high flow and compact, robust construction are needed. Built from corrosion-resistant materials, with a built-in port for Jobe's FrostPro anti-freeze device (sold separately) for cold weather.
Short Tail Inlet
Compact 7/8" thread length for a low-profile connection.
High-Flow Pilot-Operated Design
The float operates a small pilot valve, which operates the main diaphragm valve for fast refills.
Gradual Shut-Off
Closes slowly to help reduce water hammer in your lines.
Flexible Mounting
Installs top, side or bottom entry, horizontally or vertically — above or below the water line.
Tool-Free Adjustment & Lock Switch
Set the water level by hand, and lock the valve in the off position when you need to.

Long tail or short tail — which do I need?
The 3/4" short tail has a 7/8" thread for a compact connection. If you're mounting through a trough or tank wall, the 3/4" long tail has a 1-1/2" thread and comes with a backnut and seal washer.
Will it work on a gravity-fed system?
The Topaz operates from 5 psi (0.3 bar) up to 100 psi (7 bar), covering many gravity-fed and pressurized systems.
How do I prevent back-siphoning?
Jobe recommends mounting the valve at least two inlet diameters above the trough's overflow. Some mounting positions may not comply with local regulations, so check yours.
Need a different size or tail?
See every option on the Jobe Topaz Float Valve page — 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4" inlets in long and short tail.
Compact design, dependable performance — the Jobe Topaz 3/4" Short Tail keeps your troughs full without the fuss.
