The Jobe Topaz 1" Long Tail is a high-flow water trough float valve for larger livestock troughs, stock tanks and water tanks. Its 1" inlet flows more water than the 3/4" Topaz at the same pressure, so big troughs refill faster.
The long tail comes with a backnut and seal washer for through-wall mounting. Like every Topaz, it uses a pilot-operated diaphragm that opens for high flow and closes gradually to help reduce water hammer. Set the water level by hand with no tools, and lock it off whenever you need to.
A strong fit for big herds and high-demand watering points. Built from corrosion-resistant materials, with a built-in port for Jobe's FrostPro anti-freeze device (sold separately) for cold weather.
Long Tail with Backnut & Seal Washer
2-1/8" thread length, supplied ready for through-wall mounting.
High-Flow Pilot-Operated Design
The float operates a small pilot valve, which operates the main diaphragm valve for fast refills.
Gradual Shut-Off
Closes slowly to help reduce water hammer in your lines.
Flexible Mounting
Installs top, side or bottom entry, horizontally or vertically — above or below the water line.
Tool-Free Adjustment & Lock Switch
Set the water level by hand, and lock the valve in the off position when you need to.

Water Level Differential: 3/4"–2-1/2" (20–60mm), increases with inlet pressure
Mounting: Top, side or bottom entry
Float: 125mm HDPE (standard)
Materials: Glass-filled nylon body, 304 stainless steel hardware
Should I choose 1" or 3/4"?
The 1" inlet flows more water than the 3/4" at the same pressure, making it a better fit for large troughs and high-demand watering points.
Will it work on a gravity-fed system?
The Topaz operates from 5 psi (0.3 bar) up to 100 psi (7 bar), covering many gravity-fed and pressurized systems.
How do I prevent back-siphoning?
Jobe recommends mounting the valve at least two inlet diameters above the trough's overflow. Some mounting positions may not comply with local regulations, so check yours.
Need a different size or tail?
See every option on the Jobe Topaz Float Valve page — 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4" inlets in long and short tail.
More flow, same Topaz reliability — the Jobe Topaz 1" Long Tail is built for troughs that mean business.
