Ready To Use Out Of The Pail, And The Joint Still Drains
PS1500 is not a sand you sweep in dry and then water to activate. It arrives ready to use in a 55 lb pail and is washed into the joints with water, and once cured it stays permeable, so water keeps moving through the joint instead of running off. SEK calls it the new industry standard for this category, and the weed and insect resistance is the reason most people buy it.

Where A Permeable Joint Compound Beats Sand
Polymeric sand seals the joint. That is usually what you want, but on a permeable pavement or a patio where you actually want drainage it works against you. PS1500 fills and locks the joint while leaving it open to water, and the cured compound is hostile to the weeds and insects that colonize an open joint.
-
Ready to use and easy to install. No mixing. Pre-wet the pavers, pour PS1500 on, then wash it into the joints with a hose on shower setting and a foam squeegee. It can go down in light rain.
-
Resists weed growth. The main maintenance complaint on open joints.
-
Resists insect infestation. Ants in particular.
-
Permeable. Water moves through rather than sheeting off.
-
Stronger and more durable. SEK positions it as a step up from earlier compounds.
Colors
-
Pebble. The lightest of the three.
-
Slate. Mid to dark gray.
-
Granite. Speckled gray stone tone.

PS1500 Or PolySweep?
PolySweep is a traditional polymeric sand: cheaper per square foot, swept in dry and watered to activate, and it closes the joint. PS1500 costs more, installs ready to use and keeps the joint permeable. If drainage through the joint matters, PS1500 is the one. PS1500 is for joints 1/8 in to 1 1/4 in wide and at least 3/4 in deep. For joints wider than that, use PolySweep X-Treme Wide Joint.
