Nelumbo nucifera 'Oriental Red', large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Oriental Red is a very large lotus in bold, classic red. The single flowers have broad, rounded petals that open wide around a golden-yellow seedpod and a ring of golden stamens.

With so few petals, every detail shows, from the veins in each petal to the stamens around the center. The flowers are huge, and the bright red stands out against the green leaves.

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established.
