Buckwheat Pillow – Platinum Edition • PineTales®

Premium Adjustable Buckwheat Hull Pillow with Dual-Side Bamboo + Cooling Cover

Our Buckwheat Pillow - Platinum Edition pairs an adjustable 100% organic buckwheat hull core with a removable outer cover made for comfort, airflow, and a smoother sleep surface. The featured dual-side Bamboo + Cooling cover gives you two fabric surfaces in one cover: a smooth bamboo-rayon side for soft, breathable comfort and a Cool-Touch side for a cooler surface feel.

Who is this pillow best for?

Anyone who wants firm, adjustable support: The 100% organic buckwheat hull core molds around your head and neck, then holds its shape for stable support throughout the night.
Side and back sleepers: The fill can be adjusted to match your preferred pillow height, making it easier to dial in support for your shoulder width, neck position, and sleep posture.
Hot sleepers: The buckwheat hull structure naturally allows airflow through the pillow, while the dual-side Bamboo + Cooling cover gives you a breathable bamboo side and a cooler-touch side in one pillow.
Sleepers who want two fabric surfaces in one pillow: The dual-side cover lets you choose between a soft bamboo-rayon side and a Cool-Touch side depending on your comfort needs.
First-time buckwheat users: The padded outer cover creates a smoother, slightly cushioned surface over the firm buckwheat hull core. No extra pillowcase is required.
Those seeking a quieter, premium buckwheat pillow: The Platinum Edition is designed to soften the natural rustle and direct hull feel of buckwheat with a padded two-layer cover system, while preserving the real buckwheat support that molds around your head and neck and holds where you set it.

The Filling: 100% Organic Buckwheat Hulls

Our most advanced buckwheat pillow option for firm, adjustable support. The hulls shift into position, hold their shape, and help reduce the need to keep refluffing your pillow during the night.
The 3D structure of the hulls creates natural ventilation and helps prevent heat buildup. Unlike many foam pillows that can trap warmth, buckwheat hulls remain naturally breathable.
All hulls undergo our rigorous 4-stage cleaning and heat-treatment process before they are used in PineTales pillows.
Real Buckwheat Feel, Quieter by Design: Some buckwheat pillows advertise pre-polished hulls as a way to make the pillow sound quieter. PineTales keeps the hulls in their natural 3D shape so they can interlock, mold around your head and neck, and hold that support where you need it. This preserves the authentic Japanese Sobakawa-style feel buckwheat pillows are known for. Instead of flattening the fill, our padded two-layer design with thick outer covers helps soften the natural rustle and direct hull feel against your ear and cheek.
Weight (14x20): Approx. 6.5 lbs
Weight (20x26): Approx. 12–13 lbs
Height: Approx. 6–7 inches thick when fully filled. The pillow is intentionally overstuffed so you can remove hulls and adjust the height.

Premium Two-Layer Design

Outer Case: Dual-Side Bamboo + Cooling

Dual-Side Bamboo + Cooling Cover: The removable outer cover pairs a soft, breathable bamboo-rayon side with a Cool-Touch side for a cooler surface feel. Moisture-wicking fabric helps draw moisture away from your skin for a drier, more comfortable sleep surface.
Extra-Thick Comfort: The padded outer cover adds a softer surface layer over the firm buckwheat hull core, helping reduce direct pressure against the ears and cheek area. PineTales pillow covers are 2 to 3 times as thick as many comparable covers.
Softer Rustle and Smoother Feel: The padded outer cover helps soften the natural rustle and feel of shifting buckwheat hulls, creating a quieter, more refined sleep surface than a basic single-layer buckwheat pillow.

Inner Case: Woven Cotton Core

This durable inner case securely holds the organic buckwheat hull filling.
The fabric density helps keep fine hull dust contained inside the inner pillow while still allowing the fill to mold properly.
Strong yet flexible construction allows the outer cover and inner hull core to work together for firm, shapeable support.
Both inner and outer cases feature premium Japanese YKK zippers. We use visible, durable zippers by design instead of flimsy hidden zippers that can catch or break more easily.

Adjustable Fill and Simple Care

Adjustable Height: Open the zippered inner cotton case to remove buckwheat hulls and fine tune the pillow height.
Washable Cover System: Remove the buckwheat hulls before washing. The outer cover is machine washable, and the inner cotton case can also be washed once emptied.
Do Not Wash the Hulls: Buckwheat hulls should stay dry. To refresh them, place them in direct sunlight for a few hours. Learn more about buckwheat pillow care.
Available in Two Sizes: Offered in Japanese Plus (14" × 20") for targeted support and Standard (20" × 26") for a larger sleep surface.
