Each notebook features a one-of-a-kind cover, handmade from linen and cotton rags by a small team of skilled artisans at the Paper Foundation workshop in the Lake District. Every cover is then individually decorated by Paper Foundation artist Sam Park using natural pigments, ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same.

The label on the front of the book is letterpress printed onto another handmade paper (Griffin Cream 100gsm) which gives it a wonderful texture.

The notebook’s 64 plain pages are made from luxurious 135gsm paper, produced by The Paper Foundations sister mill here in Burneside, James Cropper, offering an exceptional surface for both writing and sketching. Bound in a Swiss-style lay-flat binding, the notebook opens effortlessly for ease of use. Brightly coloured endpapers add a striking finishing touch.

The Paper Foundation was created to celebrate the remarkable material of paper and to support a community of artists and makers.

They operate a handmade paper mill and are opening the first centre for paper arts in a nearby historic house. Based in Burneside in the English Lake District, a mill village since the middle-ages and papermaking community since 1746. The organisation was formed by Mark Cropper, sixth-generation papermaker and chair of the renowned James Cropper mill.

The Paper Foundation is a charitable organisation committed to advancing education, arts and heritage, for the benefit of Burneside and beyond.
