Two castles share one hill in Duel, by Caldecott Honoree Shawn Harris, and the two queens who live in them have had enough of sharing. Each sends a knight to joust for the whole hill. The trouble starts when the winner stands up in the middle of the field and nobody can tell which side he came from.

Every pair of facing pages mirrors itself exactly across the gutter, and all the colour comes from squish painting, the school art class trick of pressing wet paint between folded paper.
