I Spy Colors FREE Interactive Print & Make Book • Panda Speech LLC

This book is great for: color identification, functional vocabulary, increasing MLU (mean length of utterance), matching skills, expressive/receptive language skills, and listening skills.

How I use this book: I use this book with students who are working on matching skills and learning to identify colors. I also use it as a language activity. Read the “I Spy” prompt at the top of the book. The student will identify the object on the page that matches the color and find the matching picture symbol and put it in the sentence strip. The student will verbalize or point to the phrase “The turtle is green.” You can also have them circle the animal with a dry erase marker!

These books were designed to be simple and functional without a lot of distracting images or text. I hope you find them useful! I love using them in speech therapy sessions! Many children will recognize the functional vocabulary in these books and get excited to use the symbols and pieces!

This is a downloadable PDF book that you have to print and assemble (materials required: color printing, lamination, scissors, and velcro).

Assembly: Laminate each page, cut out and the laminate picture symbols. Attach soft velcro to the back of symbols and scratchy velcro to the blank squares on the pages and the symbol storage page. Bind the book on the left side with binding or rings.

Symbol Storage: You can store the square symbols on the pages, but it makes the book bulky. I use the symbol storage page (trim it around the border) and velcro it to the back of the book or the inside cover (with the symbols facing in).
