Based on the art installation of the same name, ‘Archeologia da spiaggia’ is an ironic look at modern society’s proliferate use of plastics, wondering if plastic will be what defines our era for future generations. Using fragments worn down by the sun and sea, Maurizio Finotto presents them as creative reconstructions on display in the year 2799, attributing them to the fictional ‘homo litoralis.’ Hypothetical conjectures about their daily lives, rituals, symbols, and beliefs are made, along with the supposed uses and meanings of objects. Other than photographs, there is a text by Ermanno Cavazzoni, and a conversation between Paolo Giulierini and Melania Rossi.
