The band you change into. Smooth polyurethane with the grain and finish of leather, closed with a stainless steel buckle, so the Fitbit Air reads as a slim bracelet rather than a piece of gym kit. It is the difference between wearing a fitness tracker to dinner and simply wearing something on your wrist.
Take hold of the band on both sides of the tracker and press down firmly on its face until it releases from the cradle. Line the tracker up against the alignment marks on the new band and push until it clicks. Check it by tugging gently. A properly seated tracker will not move at all.
Position it on the top of the wrist, just behind the wrist bone, snug enough that it does not slide but with room to slip a finger underneath. The Air reads heart rate through the back of the tracker, so a band worn too loose will cost you accuracy whatever it is made of.
The Air uses a moulded cradle that the tracker clips into, rather than lugs and pins. Bands built for the Charge, Inspire, Luxe, Versa or Sense will not fit it, and Air bands will not fit those. Our Fitbit band compatibility guide sets out what crosses over across the Fitbit range.
