The Mayfair 4ft 6 Double Solid Walnut Ottoman Bed Frame showcases the rich colour, expressive grain and natural character of solid walnut, one of the most distinctive timbers used in fine furniture. Its broad solid-panel headboard leans back at a gentle, sleigh-inspired angle with softly rounded detailing, giving the bed an elegant and substantial presence. The ottoman base lifts to reveal generous, floor-supported storage beneath.

The headboard, footboard and side rails are made from 100% solid walnut: genuine solid timber, not a veneer or walnut-effect finish. Each surface is sealed with a clear protective lacquer, then polished, lightly sanded and oiled to create a smooth, refined finish. This finishing process brings out the depth and warmth of the walnut while enhancing the natural movement of the grain. No two pieces of walnut are quite alike, so every bed has its own variations in tone and figuring.

Beneath the walnut exterior, solid oak is used for the slat supporting rails and centre support blocks, while solid pine structural components and robust solid pine slats provide dependable strength for everyday use. With its low-profile footboard and well-balanced proportions, the Mayfair feels reassuringly solid without appearing heavy, bringing together refined walnut craftsmanship, lasting strength and timeless design.

Adjustable Headboard

The Mayfair headboard offers three height settings: 1075mm, 1105mm and 1140mm from the floor. This allows you to tailor its position to suit the depth of your mattress, so the walnut panel sits at a comfortable height for sitting up in bed.

Mattress Support

The base is fitted with three sections of solid pine slats, providing stable, evenly distributed support across the full width of the bed and a firm, level platform for your mattress. The slatted design also allows air to circulate freely beneath the mattress, helping to maintain freshness and support night after night.

Smooth Lift Mechanism

Twin 90kg rated gas-lift pistons raise the base smoothly and steadily, even with a standard mattress in place, for easy everyday access to the storage below. Discreet safety locks on both sides help hold the base securely open while you use the storage area.

Removable Floor Panels

The storage area is lined with removable plywood panels that protect your flooring and give a clean, practical finish. They rest on the floor rather than being fixed in place, so they lift out easily for cleaning or when you want to use the full depth of the space. Because the panels are not part of the bed's structure, there is no fixed weight limit on what you store beneath the bed.

Built to Last

We take real pride in the furniture we offer, and the Mayfair is backed by our 15-Year Workmanship Guarantee. Made from solid walnut, solid oak and solid pine, it is built with the strength and stability for everyday use, year after year.
