Northline bears sweet, deep blue purple saskatoons about ⅝ inch across, used fresh and in pies and jam. It is a later cultivar with comparatively uniform ripening.
The shrub suckers freely and can fill out an edible hedge. Mature size varies with conditions, so allow room for its spreading growth.
Northline is a prairie saskatoon selected near Beaverlodge, Alberta. Its fruit is firm and resistant to cracking. Its relatively uniform ripening gives a more concentrated picking than Thiessen. Manitoba Agriculture recommends Northline for northern Manitoba because it flowers later.
