Mendip Cross is an English black currant introduced in 1933. It was bred at Long Ashton near Bristol from Baldwin, the old Kent market currant, and Boskoop Giant, a Dutch variety known for large, rich fruit. Malvern Cross is its sister from the same cross. It ripens in the middle of the currant season and has been retained in specialist collections for its fruit quality.
