Lee Red was bred by Lloyd Lee of Barrhead, Alberta. Its heart shaped fruit has purplish red skin, juicy sweet flesh, and a strong plum flavour. Lee Red is one of the first hardy plums to ripen, usually in early August, and is particularly good for fresh eating.
