Our Sunflower Skull throw pillow carries a skull and sunflowers, hooked in wool. The loops catch the light differently from every angle, which is what gives hooked work its depth from across a room.

Works with linen, rattan, and garden greens. One hooked piece among smoother covers gives a sofa physical variety no pattern can fake.

A steer skull crowned in sunflowers, worked in gold and warm yellow with green leaves and a few small blue blooms, set on an ivory ground. Charcoal horns sweep out toward the edges of the face. The sunflowers soften a motif that usually comes across harder than this.

Care: Spot clean only, blotting with a soft cloth, mild soap and cool water. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or dry clean.

Wool pulled loop by loop through a backing, the way hooked rugs have been made for two centuries, is what gives this piece its depth and its weight in the hand. These are made in limited seasonal quantities. The wool is why this one goes back into the box every January instead of into the bin. Worth buying for a gardener, a new house, or a spring birthday, or for your own house.
