Male & Female Flowers on the Same Plant (Sparganium simplex; or Smaller Bur-reed)

A botanical engraving from The Temple of Flora by Robert John Thornton, showing the male and female flowers of the smaller bur-reed on a single stem. Fine engraving and soft hand colouring capture the elegance of its structure and the scientific precision of early botanical study.
