One of the first pieces I made when I was in college, not for an assignment, but made for my own enjoyment, was this beautiful fitted coat for my mom. I knew that the dark fabric would look fantastic on her, and would compliment the now silvering hairs which she had begun to let shine through. The material made me think of stars, which felt fitting, as it has been my mother's presence and encouragement which always helped me to shine brighter.
