Some toys teach by telling. This one teaches by tipping.

The Mrs. Ertha Bunny Balance is a deceptively simple wooden balancing set. A bunny-shaped pivot, a seesaw board with slotted holes on each side, and 12 miniature carrots in three different sizes waiting to be arranged. Load one side, watch it tip, and figure out why. The lesson about weight, size, and balance happens naturally, through play, without a single word of explanation needed.

Why Kids (and Parents) Love It

Balance toys occupy a unique space in early childhood development. They teach abstract concepts like weight and cause-and-effect through direct physical feedback rather than instruction. When the board tips, a child feels it, sees it, and immediately wants to fix it. That cycle of hypothesis, action, and result is exactly how young minds build logical thinking.

The three carrot sizes are where the real learning lives. Two small, two medium, two large on each side, children quickly discover that filling every hole doesn’t automatically mean balance. A large carrot on one side changes things. A cluster of small ones on the other changes things back. That moment of figuring it out is genuinely satisfying at any age.
