A pointed beak, upright stance and cut-out markings give this Mini Magpie plenty of character in a small space. Find a sound wooden planter rim or post you can see from the window. It is a little daily visitor, on a perch of your choosing.

Material and weathering

Made from unpainted 3 mm Corten weathering steel. Outdoors, the surface develops a rust-coloured patina. The colour and pace of change depend on exposure, rain and drying. Leave it unpainted and choose a spot where rust run-off will not stain pale paving, walls, pots or other surfaces. For an exposed coastal position, ask us for advice before choosing a spot.

Installation

Choose suitable sound timber on a sturdy post, rail or wooden planter, with permission to install. Position the integrated mounting spike at a slight downward angle. Gently tap the thick end of the spike with a hammer or mallet until secure, never the bird itself. Check it is stable before letting go. Keep the sharp point and edges clear of children and walkways. Hammer not included. This timber-mounted design is not a loose-soil plant stake.

Gifting

For the friend with a favourite magpie, a new balcony or one more planter than planned. This single Mini Magpie comes in an A6 branded envelope. The larger pair shown in the comparison photograph is not included.
