For the best burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each use and allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface during the first burn. Keep the candle free of wick trimmings and debris, and discontinue use when about ½ inch of wax remains. Once your candle reaches its final flame, there can be remaining wax left in your jar by design as we use wick stoppers in every candle, which prevent the glass from overheating.
A Note About Coconut Wax: Natural coconut wax candles may burn differently than traditional paraffin candles. Because coconut wax is softer and more natural, you may notice variations in the melt pool, texture, appearance, or burn from candle to candle. These characteristics are normal and do not affect the quality of your candle.
If your candle is tunneling: Let it burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the vessel whenever possible. If tunneling has already started, wrap the top of the candle loosely with foil, leaving an opening in the center, and burn carefully until the wax surface begins to even out. We recommend burning your candle for approximately one hour for every inch of the vessel’s diameter to help create an even melt pool and prevent tunneling.
If you notice soot: Extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, and trim the wick before relighting. A wick that is too long can create excess soot. Keep your candle away from drafts, which can cause the flame to flicker or smoke. If soot appears on the vessel, allow it to cool completely and gently wipe it clean.
Safety: Always burn your candle within sight. Keep away from drafts and vibrations, and keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface and never leave a burning candle unattended.
