Deutzia 'Tourbillon Rouge' is a lively, vivid pink deutzia that really wakes up a border in early summer. It’s ideal in a sunny or lightly shaded bed, where the flowers can be enjoyed at eye level and the plant can spread into a natural-looking shape.

Deutzia 'Tourbillon Rouge' is a wide, spreading ornamental shrub that fits beautifully into cottage and informal planting, and it also works in rockeries where you want a bit of drama without height. It looks particularly good with blue and purple companions—think salvias, catmint, or alliums—plus softer grasses that keep the planting airy. It also offers good autumn colour, which extends the season nicely.

Plant it in sun or semi shade in most soil types—chalk, clay, loam or sand—and it’s comfortable across acidic, neutral or alkaline ground. A sheltered position helps it perform at its best, especially in windier spots. Prune after flowering by thinning and lightly shaping, and it will stay vigorous and free-flowering.
