In Kashmir, a serving vessel was rarely left plain. The coppersmiths there cover a whole surface in flowers — chinar leaves, roses, vines worked so close together that no metal is left bare. This antique covered pot carries that tradition on every inch.
It is hand-raised from solid copper, with a brass handle and a domed lid finished with a finial. The dense floral engraving — naqashi, chiselled entirely by hand — runs across the body and over the lid, the kind of work Kashmir has been known for over generations of family workshops.
Copper holds heat, so a pot like this kept rice and slow-cooked dishes warm through a long meal. Brought to the table now, lid lifted in front of guests, it does the same thing it always did — and stays as a piece worth keeping.
