Some dishes deserve to come to the table in something as worked as what's inside them. This is copper, engraved corner to corner by hand, with a fitted lid you lift in front of guests.

It's made in copper in Lahore, the rounded body and lid worked over in naqsheen nigari by hand, the interior tin-plated. It borrows the familiar handi shape but is made for the table and the shelf, not the stove — bring it out with food already in it, or stand it as decor. Few serving pieces carry this much handwork.

The handi, dressed for the table.
