Paan was offered first. Before the meal, before the conversation settled — the paandaan came out. In the old household ledgers of the subcontinent, you find the paandaan in the lists of things that were passed down. Not sold. Passed down.
This eight-sided copper paandaan is over 100 years old — naqsheen nigari across every panel of the octagonal body and lid. Compact: 7.5 by 5.5 inches, four inches tall. The aath pehel form is the considered choice — more panels for the engraver's hand. The floral details are present, worked in close.
