A tray made for occasions — jashan means celebration, and this is the one you bring out when there's something to mark.

Twelve inches across, it's hammered by hand at the centre and cut into a border of flowers at the rim, then raised on small feet. Made in brass in Lahore using techniques that long predate the table it'll sit on. Pile it with mithai and dry fruit for Eid, or leave it bare as a centrepiece — it carries both.

A celebration in brass, brought out year after year.
