Founded as the natural extension of Alessandro Squarzi's personal philosophy and wardrobe, Fortela draws from an authentic archive of military, workwear and vintage tailoring, reinterpreted and crafted by artisans between Italy and Japan. The Fortela Taos is a single-breasted shearling coat that draws from the American West and the working tradition of the sheepskin as outerwear. Named after the high desert town in New Mexico, the Taos is built from 100% sheepskin with the wool left on the inside, producing a coat with genuine warmth and weight that improves in texture and character with every season of wear.

The silhouette is clean and unfussy in the single-breasted cut, keeping the coat's practical origins intact while allowing it to sit naturally across both dressed and casual contexts. Slanted front pockets sit at hip height, proportioned to the coat's wider, more generous frame. The dark brown colourway grounds the coat in the earthier end of the workwear palette, sitting naturally alongside denim, corduroy and heavy cotton.

WEAR IT WITH

The Taos is outerwear that works by subtraction rather than addition. Underneath, the Fortela Blue Stone Wash Denim Western Shirt carries the same American workwear reference as the coat itself, its faded denim and mother-of-pearl snap closures sitting without friction alongside the shearling. For trousers, either the Fortela Ecru Corduroy Five-Pocket Trouser, in a warm off-white cord with riveted front pockets, or the Fortela Blue Bleach Wash 965 John Jeans, in a sun-faded Italian selvedge, complete a look where every piece comes from the same tradition.

Regular fit. We recommend choosing your usual size.

CARE

Dry clean only. Store on a wide-shouldered hanger in a breathable garment bag between seasons. Brush the wool side gently with a soft brush to maintain the nap. Condition the leather exterior once or twice a season with a leather conditioner suited to sheepskin.
