THE BRAND

Simonnot-Godard is the oldest surviving French manufacturer of woven handkerchiefs, founded in 1787. Operating from their maison in France, they remain one of the last houses to produce handkerchiefs entirely by hand, working exclusively in the finest linen and cotton yarns. Their pieces are made in the traditional manner, on looms that have not changed in over a century, and they represent the highest standard of the form.

DETAILS

The Fontaine is Simonnot-Godard's interpretation of the white linen pocket square carried at its most refined. Woven in 100% linen and handmade in France, the fabric has the slight texture and natural crispness characteristic of quality linen — a different character to cotton, with more structure and a more pronounced surface that holds a fold cleanly and presents well against a dark jacket lapel.

The shadow stripe pattern is woven into the cloth rather than printed, visible as a tonal variation in the white — present enough to give the square surface interest and depth, absent enough to read as white at a distance. The result is a pocket square that works as a pure white in formal contexts while carrying a quiet detail that rewards closer attention. At 33 x 33 cm it is sized for a classic presentation fold or a relaxed puff, and wears appropriately across both formal and smart casual.
