Our Mexican Amber Protection Bracelet is lovingly handmade by artisan Erika in southern Mexico, pairing a rich purple cotton cord with a genuine piece of natural Mexican amber. Simple and understated, but with a story that goes back millions of years.

The amber comes from Simojovel, Chiapas, a region known for its exceptionally rare Mexican amber. Formed from fossilized tree resin roughly 20 million years ago, Mexican amber is prized for its naturally warm honey, golden, red, and orange tones. Because it comes straight from nature, no two pieces of amber are exactly alike — each will have its own shape, color, markings, and character.

But amber's story goes far beyond its beauty.

For generations, amber has held special meaning throughout southern Mexico and Central America. Among Maya communities, it has traditionally been worn as a symbol of protection and good fortune, including protection against the mal de ojo, or evil eye. It is also associated with warmth, positive energy, love, and a sunny outlook on life.

Erika finishes each bracelet with an adjustable sliding knot, making it an easy, meaningful piece to wear alone or layer with your favorite bracelets.
