Do I Need a Mattress Foundation?
A good foundation isn't just about height — it's about protecting your mattress and your sleep. Sleeping on a mattress directly on the floor traps heat and moisture, voids most warranties, and can cause sagging over time. The Lull Foundation gives your mattress the firm, even support it needs to perform the way it was designed to.
Foundation vs. Box Spring: What's the Difference?
Traditional box springs contain coils and were designed for older innerspring mattresses. Modern memory foam mattresses — like Lull — need a solid, flat surface with consistent support, not springs. The Lull Foundation uses a slatted hardwood design with slats no more than 3 inches apart, which:
- Prevents sagging and premature wear
- Promotes airflow beneath the mattress for cooler sleep
- Maintains your Lull warranty (required: solid or slatted base with ≤3" gaps)
Box springs are not recommended for Lull mattresses. The Lull Foundation is.
What Bed Frames Does It Work With?
The Lull Foundation is compatible with most standard bed frames including:
- Platform frames (with or without slats — the Foundation adds its own)
- Metal frames with center support legs (Queen and King sizes)
- Traditional wooden frames designed for a box spring
It comes in all standard sizes — Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and Cal King — so it pairs perfectly with any Lull mattress.
