In Still Water, Ducharne reduces the sea to bands of color and atmosphere, capturing the hushed suspension between horizon, reflection, and sky. Still Water is drawn from a hand-painted gouache study whose softened gradations and layered tonal fields reflect the painterly language favored in the world of Elsa Schiaparelli. The composition distills water into a poetic structure of calm, depth, and light, revealing Ducharne’s ability to translate elemental stillness into a refined textile blueprint shaped by atmosphere and restraint.
