🧪 When to Use Oxalic Acid Vaporization
Oxalic acid vaporization is most effective when mites are on adult bees, not hidden beneath wax cappings. Since oxalic acid can’t penetrate capped brood, the best results happen when the colony is broodless or has reduced brood.
Great times to treat include:
- Late fall or winter, when bees are clustered and broodless
- After capturing or installing a swarm
- During a natural brood break or after requeening
These treatment windows allow the vapor to reach nearly every mite — increasing success rates without disrupting the colony.
