This Fanimation BTR9U fanSync receiver adds Bluetooth control to a compatible 3-speed AC-motor ceiling fan that has both an uplight and a downlight. Once installed in the fan's canopy, the fan and both lights can be controlled from a phone or tablet with the free fanSync app.

For fans with no light or a single downlight, use the BTR9 fanSync Bluetooth Receiver instead. It is rated for 120V and is not for DC-motor ceiling fans. For Wi-Fi and smart-home control of a 3-speed AC fan, see the WFR50 fanSync Wi-Fi Receiver.

Installation / Setup

1. Turn off power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker before installing or accessing the receiver.
2. Install the receiver in the fan's canopy, wired between the AC supply and the fan motor and lights, following the instructions included with the receiver and your fan's owner’s manual.
3. Restore power at the breaker.
4. Set the fan to HIGH speed and the light kit (if any) ON.
5. If the light kit uses CFL bulbs, slide the receiver's light dimmer function select switch to on/off; with incandescent bulbs, slide it to dimmer. Dimming is not available with some bulbs, such as CFLs.
6. Download the free fanSync app and pair your phone with the receiver following the app's instructions.
7. To pair a fanSync handheld transmitter (needed if the transmitter or receiver is replaced): set the transmitter's DIP-switch code, restore power, and within 30 seconds press and hold the fan-off button for about 1 to 3 seconds - the fan turns off, then turns on at medium speed when pairing is complete.
8. Test fan on/off, the three fan speeds, and both the uplight and downlight.

Each fanSync receiver pairs with up to five transmitters (with different DIP-switch codes); smart-device pairing is unlimited. Because a transmitter can pair to more than one receiver, Fanimation suggests that fans more than seven feet apart be on separate power switches.

Electrical and location: for ceiling fans on a 120V AC, 60 Hz supply only; indoor use only - do not install in damp locations. Do not use with any variable (rheostat) wall control.
