Drawn from French ceramic lighting of the 1950s, the Arco sconce pairs a hand-formed arm with a matte porcelain shade that diffuses a warm glow. The arm is shaped by hand, then slip-cast in deep red or forest green pigmented porcelain and finished in a glassy glaze, its curve echoing the limestone forms of the Calanques, the coastline between Marseille and Cassis. The shade is slip-cast thinly in Australian porcelain, kept translucent so light passes softly through the surface.
Mounted solo as a focal point against a smooth or textured wall, or grouped through a living area, the sconce settles seamlessly into eclectic, art-filled spaces. Designed to strike a harmony between raw material and refined form, the piece creates intimate pockets of light doubling as a tactile wall sculpture by day, and casting a gentle, translucent glow by night.
