The stoneware base on the Marea Wall Sconce takes its texture from a collection of shells, press-moulded into the clay and traced back to a childhood collection, a nod to eighteenth-century French shellwork and the pale rock formations of the Calanques in southern France. The base is glazed in a Shino-style finish, breaking to soft blush tones across the raised texture.
Two porcelain shades are formed separately and left unglazed, softening the light before it reaches the room. Paired with brass fittings, the arms hold the shades outward from the wall, throwing a warm, diffused glow across the surrounding surface.
Mounted in a hallway, bathroom, or above a console, Marea brings warmth and tactile depth to the space, offering a soft yet captivating statement with shellwork that catches light differently through the day.
