Give your child a rich, meaningful year of learning while building a family rhythm filled with stories, beauty, discovery, and connection.
Gentle + Classical Primer is a 30-unit, Christ-centered program that brings literature, Scripture, theology, Creation science, poetry, art, music, virtue, manners, and hands-on learning into one clear, flexible rhythm. Fairy tales and living stories nourish your child’s moral imagination, while recitation, conversation, art, music, handicrafts, and scientific exploration bring learning to life.
Created for ages 5–7, Primer offers the depth you want with the flexibility family life requires.
Primer gives you a guide for homeschooling days so that you know what to do next while retaining the freedom to choose what best serves your child and family.
(Note: Primer includes a science component. We do not recommend adding an additional science or nature study.)
Classic fairy tales, nursery rhymes, poetry, hymns, and Old Testament Bible stories invite your child into a world of wonder and awe. Through listening, conversation, recitation, and hands-on creativity, children encounter courage, kindness, temptation, sacrifice, and redemption—giving them language and stories that help shape the way they understand what is true, good, and beautiful.
Scripture, catechism*, Bible reading, manners, hygiene, and one carefully chosen virtue each term help faith become part of your family’s everyday rhythm. Rather than rushing from one character lesson to the next, your child has time to dwell on kindness, self-control, and faithfulness and begin practicing these ideas within family life and relationships.
*The catechisms summarize foundational, orthodox Christian beliefs and are adapted from lessons in The Ology. Please review the free Teacher’s Guide to preview every catechism included in the program.
A slow journey through the seven days of biblical Creation introduces your child to botany, zoology, marine biology, astronomy, physics, anatomy, and more. Living readings, memorable recitations, scientific vocabulary, and a menu of hands-on activities help your child understand God’s world while growing in observation, curiosity, and wonder.
Your child will become familiar with great artists, composers, orchestral instruments, and the seven elements of art through thoughtful observation and hands-on exploration. Art projects and meaningful handicrafts alternate throughout the year, while the Kindergarten Morning Binder and memory work gently reinforce letters, sounds, counting, shapes, money, calendar skills, and other early foundations.
Parents: Add a formal phonics and math curriculum at your child’s level upon readiness.
Four required core books are not included. Menu cover not included.
