From photographer Paul Barbera, author of Where They Purr, a stunning look at enviable abodes and the mischievous cats who live there“

This is not a book about cats,” writes photographer Paul Barbera, in the Introduction to House Cat: Inspirational Interiors & The Elegant Felines Who Call Them Home.“ Nor is it a book on interiors. It is somewhere in-between: a look at how cats and interiors interact, and how cats become a fundamental part of the home.”

House Cat introduces readers to fifty feline residents and offers fascinating insights into their luxurious lives. Photographed by Barbera, the book’s stunning interiors include a ninety-one-story-high penthouse above Billionaires’ Row in New York City, a tranquil Miami Beach apartment, a Hamptons house replete with views of nature, and a Mexican hacienda-inspired home in Los Angeles. From fashion powerhouse race Coddington's famous felines wandering in their cosmopolitan Chelsea apartment to a farmhouse cat who has no idea that his owner is renowned interior designer Bunny Williams, House Cat showcases charismatic felines who can be divas, devoted friends, homebodies, or intrepid explorers—allin the incredible spaces they call home.“Where They Purrwas the first iteration of this theme,” Barbera notes.“ I shot it in Australia in between lockdowns, before returning to New York, which has been my home for over a decade. WhenI got back to the States, it felt natural to celebrate US cats. After all, why should they miss out?”Celebrating beautiful interiors and the unique personalities of the cats who live there, House Cat provides inspiration both for décor and for sharing spaces with beloved feline companions
