A small oval head in 9ct gold, worn through the tie to hold it in place against the shirt. Half the face is left plain and polished; the other half carries a fan of engraved rays, divided by a fine ropework line running corner to corner.

A single ruby sits low on the plain half, set within a star cut that throws short lines out from the stone. The effect is quiet at arm's length and only shows its detail close to. Scale is modest, as a tie tac should be: enough to catch the light when you move, not enough to compete with the tie itself.
