Kaarna is a cosy, textured beanie designed by Finnish knitwear designer Henna Ketonen. Inspired by the rugged bark of conifer trees, the design combines a plush surface with a simple, timeless silhouette. The name Kaarna means “bark” in Finnish, while the warm colour palette evokes the evening sunlight falling on a pine trunk.
The beanie’s distinctive texture is created using slipped stitches, with four strands of yarn held together to produce a wonderfully soft and substantial fabric. The combination of Laine x Novita 4ply and Novita Edith Silk Mohair adds warmth and a delicate halo. Kaarna is worked from the top down, making it easy to adjust the length to your preference.
