This medium bowl is adorned with a striking, large peony. The petals are beautifully rendered in varying hues of blue, using the vibrant pigments for which Kutani ware is known. Complementing the peony is a hand-painted circular shippo design in vermillion red, encircled by a gleaming ring of gold, a signature motif of Sato Tsuyoshi.  

The bowl is ideal for a variety of dishes such as simmered dishes, Japanese salads, and noodle dishes like udon or soba. Its depth allows it to hold generous portions, while the gently flared, bell-shaped form provides a smooth mouthfeel and presents each dish in a fuller, more appetizing way.
