Oculus is the window set high in a cathedral facade - the one built so a single beam of light lands in the same spot every day at the same hour. Not a window you look out of. A window that looks back.
That's the shape of this piece. A gothic arch laser-engraved into solid brass - not stamped, not cast, machined and worked by hand the way cathedral fittings were before anyone thought to make it faster. Through the arch: a rosette with a single open eye at its center, a tentacle rising out of engraved waves toward it. Every line you see is cut into the metal. No plating. No paint. Nothing that sits on top of the brass instead of in it.
Flip it over and there's just the Kraken. Nothing else. That side is for you.
Set this golf ball marker down on the 18th green and it stops looking like a golf accessory and starts looking like something pulled off a cathedral door that only opens for members. Someone's going to ask about it. You're going to tell them you can't get one.
Because you can't. I make a run, I move on to the next thing, and the people who were paying attention own the only ones that will ever exist.
If you own this, you're the kind of golfer who notices the window before you notice what's through it.
