Baby Bear Balaclava Kit

Yarn + Knitting Pattern

Knitting For Olive

Baby Bear Balaclava is a snug, warm children's balaclava with rounded bear ears. It fits closely around the face and neck, which makes it perfect for cold days and hard for little hands to pull off.

It is knitted with a strand of Merino and a strand of Soft Silk Mohair held together for extra warmth and softness, except for the face band, which is worked in Merino only so no fluffy fibres sit too close to the child's face. The balaclava is worked in one piece, in the round and back and forth, with short row shaping, and the pattern includes two neck options: a ribbed neckband or a longer neckwarmer.

This kit includes the free PDF pattern and the yarn you need: choose your Merino colour and your Soft Silk Mohair colour, and we will add 1 ball of each to your basket.

You are purchasing a digital knitting pattern and yarn, not the item itself.

About the Yarn

Knitting for Olive Merino is a soft, smooth fingering weight merino with beautiful stitch definition, available in a wide range of muted, Scandinavian inspired shades.

Soft Silk Mohair is a light, airy blend of kid mohair and silk. Held together with Merino it adds warmth and a gentle halo without adding weight.

About Knitting for Olive

Knitting for Olive is a Danish family-run yarn company founded in 2015 by mother and daughter, Pernille and Caroline, with son and brother, Alexander, joining the business in 2022. What began as a small line of baby and toddler knitting patterns grew into a full range of designs for children and adults, and in 2016 the family launched their own yarn, starting with Merino and later expanding to include Soft Silk Mohair, Pure Silk, No Waste Wool and more.

Ethical production sits at the core of the brand. Knitting for Olive is certified to the Responsible Wool Standard and Responsible Mohair Standard, meaning their wool and mohair can be traced from farm to finished yarn, and their silk is produced cruelty-free using threads from cocoons the silkworms have already left naturally.

With its roots in Copenhagen and two physical stores in Denmark, Knitting for Olive has grown into a brand trusted by knitters worldwide for combining quality natural fibres with genuine care for animals, workers and the environment.
