Introducing the Two Worlds Design-
A design by Phyllis Webstad and her grandson that speaks to identity, belonging, and reconciliation.

Two Worlds represents walking in two worlds — Indigenous and non‑Indigenous — and affirms that every child matters.

The Story Behind Two Worlds

Two Worlds is more than a design — it is a personal story shared by Phyllis Webstad, co-founder of the Orange Shirt Day- Every Child Matters and Orange Shirt Society.

Phyllis identifies as both Indigenous and Caucasian. For her, Two Worlds represents living, learning, and belonging in two worlds. The design reflects the truth that identity can be layered, complex, and deeply human — and that every child matters.

Two Worlds is a symbol of unity. It reminds us that truth and reconciliation is not about division, but about understanding, respect, and shared responsibility.

What Two Worlds Represents

· Identity: Honouring all parts of who we are

· Unity: Walking together in two worlds

· Reconciliation: Learning from the past while building a better future

· Belonging: Every child matters — always

This design invites conversation, reflection, and learning in classrooms, workplaces, and communities across Canada.

Why This Design Matters Now

Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation continues to grow as a national movement rooted in education, remembrance, and action. Two Worlds offers a meaningful way for schools, organizations, and communities to participate with intention and respect.
