"The President" traces the birth of our nation through George Washington’s two terms, culminating in his death as the new century begins. Washington voluntarily gave up the power of the presidency because he never sought to be a king—just one example of his greatness. As the eulogy for Washington stated, he is “first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.” "The President" explains why this is true, even today.
