This large handwoven basket is a beautiful serving or decorative option for the updated home.

The basket is woven with wild twigs as the center base and structure with beige/natural palm leaves woven through and finishing the edge.

The black design/abstract is recycled plastic. When looking at the basket, the black design appears to be a somewhat shiny dyed leaf. However, upon inspection up close (once you are aware there is plastic woven into it), you can distinguish the difference and see the black design is in fact plastic.

In the Pemba and Monze districts of Zambia's Southern Plateau, skilled Batonga women craft iconic baskets from locally harvested palm leaves and wild twigs. The weavers artfully elevate single-use plastic bags that would otherwise be discarded to add colorful assorted graphic motifs to their baskets.

Sold singly in assorted patterns. Because this is a handcrafted item, each will vary slightly.
